The relations between seniors and juniors has been totally poisoned now. I feel juniors should break away from the SJA/GB and form their own unofficial student body which can submit petitions and meet the VC on its own, while working with the SJA/GB as and when needed.
If only posting stuff on LI impacted NIRF perception. What a joke!
The NUJS junior kids behave just like Greta Thunberg: always moaning and creating a nuisance. They lack the maturity of the seniors.
People who have not followed protocol and behaved irresponsibly, or their family members are tested positive. Students aren't an exception.
Every second person in Kolkata is positive. So don't blame the SJA or the VC, blame the incompetent WB government.
If you are a senior who chooses not to have rapport with juniors based on anon LI comments, then you aren't a very good example of a responsible senior or law student to begin with.
Mamata ignored COVID situation, so you got affected while staying within campus and observing all protocols? Wow, with that logic, you should run for the Governor's office.
The campus guidelines cannot be in violation of healthcare guidelines.
Students do have that right. But openly and before the right forum. Not anonymously on gossip boards.
Thank you #25. This is the best and most sensible post in the comments so far. As you pointed out, the problem is with the high rate of cases in Kolkata, because the public were careless during Christmas and the government looked the other way.
The campus guidelines allow for it. It states that positive people have to make alternate account arrangements. So students who want to leave , cannot be stopped.
Get your facts straight before going on a rant.
The SJA didn't just push for voluntary reopening, but compulsory reopening from Jan 2. That's the problem. People would have been forced to come back.
Mind all of you

Publishing comments on LI don't count as publications, so please stop this bs thread and get cracking on research papers, moots, and blogs, applying for internships.

Getting in NUJS doesn't guarantee a job, you have to work for it
The comment itself is baseless as this SJA cannot take credit of website built by past SJAs. Moreover how brazenly the SJA takes the credit for sessions organised by IDG.

Let us not forget his younger brother's son graduated last year from NUJS, so the nexus is more than you think.

Ever heard of virtual protests, mass emails, social media posts, open letters, letters to newspapers? Just look around yourself, the whole world is getting attuned to it.
Trust you on the basis of what we have seen of you and your actions so far? Thanks, but no.
How will this protest happen though? The SJA doesn't care. Most batches are stuck at home currently. It is practically not possible to have a protest currently.
This means that they were positive while going back home? They could have possibly spread the virus more while travelling? Who let this happen and why didn't they isolate on campus?
A 42-word comment posted 4 years ago was not published.
Is there any space for dissent in the SJA? Does the SJA know what decisions are being taken or is the P not sharing anything?
I hope this convo doesn't just remain restricted to LI and people act on it. If not acting on it atleast support the ones acting on it
I think you are right. The admin going ahead with the reopening has brought to light AGAIN all the structural problems in the University and I think we may just have the last opportunity to sort it out before it spirals out of hand.
Oh please, we participated in the PIBOUT movement, and got rid of him by boycotting lectures and protesting on POJ. We had the guts to do something for the university, what have you done?
To all 1st years and 2nd years: You are the future of the institution, not the 5th years. So just don't give in to any bullying and demand accountability from the admin, even if the 5th years will not.
Not just "planned", the partying was on unabated, and now everyone's testing positive left right and centre, to the surprise of nobody
Who will conduct the PIBOUT movement though? The defunct SJA?
I agree. The SJA P never responds to messages, how else are we supposed to raise our concerns?
More are testing positive daily. In a week we'll probably get a better picture. But we'll probably never get an official email since many people are back home. But among the 40+ close contacts there's a chance a lot are positive.
Peddlers of the oMiCrOn iS miLd idea are leaving the campus after testing positive. Stay on the campus only if its so mild
Your opinion does matter bud. Don't indulge in ableist behaviour🙏
SJA and their friends and coming at us with ad hominem attaxxx. Tnx for saving us you wonderful senior xoxo
I still have a good amount of trauma due to contracts I, contracts II and IPC. Abhi pls rehne do college online hi. Next sem dekhte hai na pls🙏

R, can you pls be a little more active in approving comments here. Apart from student welfare, sja accountability, covid, yada yada, its really good entertainment. Thanks

Im a noojie from the third year, if that helps.

If you don't see the point of having this thread, why are you visiting it and commenting in it?
How does anon shitposting here help to take the SJA to task, not that I don't want to do the latter.
Yes, because see how far the university has come because of the last one! It helped the state government to cement its control over the institution and started a host of litigation on various fronts that still remain unresolved.
As a fifth year, you are as much to blame for the whole scene as most.
Will you give it a rest with that stupid governor? That guy is a blight on any institution and his own office.
Your seniors joined firms and managed to show commitment towards the institution at the same time. Don't blame career choices, blame the lack of character.
And did the CM force the students to attend these super spreaders or roam around the campus and outside without masks? It's easy to blame everyone else other than yourself, is it?

Obv. Batch of 2024 has a lot of potential. We were able to negotiate with the faculty even when the SJA failed.
Sir can the faculty not push for a change? We've had enough of them. I'm graduating this year, but I know another year with an sja that does nothing will doom nujs.

Are there no juniors who want to stand?
I'm on campus right now, the numbers are correct

How many GB meetings even happened this year??? Current SJA like Central govt, never comes to public forum for accountability.
This was sarcasm. Please read a little bit to enhance your comprehension skills. Sheesh!
Yes, because COVID cares which batch you are from. Seniors have behaved the most irresponsibly by partying and roaming around without precaution since coming back to campus. Nobody owes you any of that.
Actually, by allowing them to stand unopposed the second time, you already do deserve them. You can still try to rectify that in the coming academic year though when elections happen, or even before that by impeachment and other available options.
There's no faculty member at NUJS who has been on campus for 11 years. If you are impersonating someone, at least do the research first.
You do realise that if a whole batch actually tries to impeach the SJA office bearers, they can make that happen, right? Draft a petition to that end instead of trolling here anonymously.
A 8-word comment posted 4 years ago was not published.
Noojies can freely send emails to everyone, including their own batch, the entire GB, faculty group, all the administrative staff and AC, EC and GC members, and the media. Not sure whether that kind of freedom is available in most other institutions.
A 37-word comment posted 4 years ago was not published.
Again false facts. NUJS officially hasn't been declared as containment zone.
Please take the lead and stand for elections. Btw the SJA Prez and VP are doing all in their capacity in helping the GB. I agree though they could have consulted experts before pushing for reopening.

As a very honest piece of advice, I think it is time for another #PIBOUT type movement for NUJS to reach its true glory again. As a fifth year who will graduate in April 22', I cannot care less now, but it pains me to see the current state of admin, VC and the SJA.
This time the SJA will be challenged. There are some deserving students from 2023 as well as 2024 batch who have the vision and capability to lead college.
From the 23 batch, there is a group trying to dissent but the concerns we raise are being dismissed by some of our batch mates. They try to ridicule the people who raise legitimate concerns as well.

This comment is utter BS, the numbers are all wrong.

It is highly irresponsible of the students to ho roaming about , if you looka at Instagram you can see pictures of literally everyone at park street and eco park
This was a preventable situated
Agreed! We need a new VC as well as a new SJA President- Stop this tyranny!
Flights are only checking for double vaccination certificate. All of the students are vaccinated.
if the student body lets the same sja continue for a third consecutive term, we deserve the incompetent sja we currently have. why is noone standing for election? why are we settling?

Why don't you let those with qualifications to speak about this do so, and not give us your two cents?
A 18-word comment posted 4 years ago was not published.
First and second year kids posting here: please act mature, you are not in school! If you have a grievance express it in university groups only.
This is what happens when you get an incompetent VC.
Why are these comments being censored? R, this is the only place Noojies can express their opinion, please post all comments.
What culture? You have vandalised college prop, and pretend that you are aware of the responsibility of being in a top law school. Shame on you!
seniors went to park street on Xmas too, did you forget that? Where the streets and restaurants were crowded and full of people. Is that not irresponsible?
A 21-word comment posted 4 years ago was not published.
Depends on the faculty. A lot of people are very happy to shirk work on that pretext. Teachers and students alike.
Did the SJA Prez and VP also have simultaneous aneurisms that prevented them from reading those out loud?
You were aware of the risk of paying for tests and being isolated in the event of a positive case when you decided to go back. Why are you complaining now?
You have been getting food for terrace parties from outside only. And nobody has been trapped within campus, at least six students whom I know have left for home even today itself.
I think you are someone from the current SJA, as for you the top priority is for people to have fun and access to their partners on campus. Waah SJA Waah

If this had happened in a university abroad, the people responsible for dragging students on campus would have taken moral responsibility and resigned.

So will the VC and SJA President take moral responsibility and resign?

Most of the close contacts have gone back home, they aren't isolating on campus
Almost double that number are positive. Including the 2 cases last week, it is probably around 15-17. The SJA is not releasing any official figures though so there is no certainty. And most of the close contacts are flying home now.
You pay all the costs. Let us enjoy only the benefits.
Tell that to the families of all those who have lost their lives from COVID. You are the type of person because of whom pandemics spread. Should we hold you liable for the hospital bills, failing health and lost lives when students get afflicted en masse?

Latest covid updates:- 16 people positive. 40+ isolating as close contacts (basically almost everyone on campus except 15 odd). NUJS is containment zone.
A 4-word comment posted 4 years ago was not published.
Why didn't you object during the GB meetings? It is not as if this matter wasn't discussed there. Not enough students objected for it to be taken seriously.
Its not closed, people are still living and partying in hostel
Lol, are you claiming that the teachers wanted the college to reopen so that the students could party? Whatever you're learning from the online classes, it's not logic. Why don't you impeach the SJA since you're so unhappy with their decisions?
Most of the students in campus weren't following COVID protocols or wearing masks. Christmas bashes and NY parties were being planned. Irresponsibility begets tragedy.
It's true. More than 8 students are positive with 40+ identified as close contacts.

Can we talk about this? We don't even have enough facilities to host all students safely here... shouldn't we close it and shift to online classes?
