part-time teaching is permitted under BCI rules (framed under advocates act). although there is restriction on number of hours. A lawyer is permitted to earn through other mediums if it does not interfere with his work as an advocate.

One of the teachers at my CLAT coaching was a litigating lawyer at the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High court.
He used to take our contract law classes in the evening when we had the old CLAT pattern.
