My ilnu batchmate joined WG. In her words the pay and work is "disappointing". Wadia and LL aren't known for banking work. Juris corp is definitely a better bet since it's core practice is banking. Wg is litigation and LL is project finance. It's important to get the right job. With bad experience growth could be stunted
I'm ex-WG and I wasn't in the banking / debt team. That being said, banking / debt is WG's strength (along with real estate and litigation).

I'm assuming your batchmate is fairly junior (less than 3-4 PQE) if she thinks the pay is poor - because it is for the first few years. After that, the banking team at WG has a pretty competitive pay structure and WG is one of the nicer firms to work at. This isn't to say that WG doesn't have it's shortcomings: there are many, but you have it wrong on this specific issue.
Why does WG have such poor pay in initial few years? Last I heard they were paying 25-30k at A0 level (litigation).
