Let it be... she's made a few really brave, idealistic career choices when many in her place would be fine to somewhat miserably and cynically follow the corporate career path for comfort.

Achievements are 15 minutes of fame, at least she is a positive inspiration to the youth!

It's time people stopped eulogising random people. She got a government job, good for her, but it's not that she invented a new propulsion system to colonize another planet. It's not 1962 anymore and this undue glamorisation of run of the mill professions put talented people in a never ending trap and drain society off innovations / real wealth generation activities.

It is not 1962 and the British era is long gone...this unhealthy obsession of middle class uncles with government jobs has been the reason for doom of many young hearts, desperation, suicides (for failure to clear exams), and preparing for UPSC literally becoming a national time pass. People waste 5 to 6 years to clear this exam only because they think no other career option is worth it. Only in India this attitude can prevail. These uncles with their British era slavery mindset think that only My Lords aka babus are be all and everything and inculcate the same mindset in their children. British era is gone...collectors are no more the LORDS of the town...they are supposed to be servants of the public and that is how they should behave...and not lik that VIP culture which they propagate and this culture thrives only because people like us allow it to thrive. If the citizens of the country revolt against the VIP culture then this will automatically go...sad truth is Indians like Stockholm syndrome become fans of the power hungry..British royalty should not be replaced with Sarkari Aristocracy..it should be replaced with public servants..who should think themselves of like a doctor serving humanity..and not some bully whose only job is to stop any thing that public wants. Obviously everyone is not like that, but this "My Baap" culture needs to go. Clearing UPSC only requires hard work of mugging and reading up, there is literally no talent or aptitude measurement..inteview marks are just a small part of your overall marks. It just selects people who can slog their ass off mugging for two years. Most outdated exam ever. You can literally take Sanskrit as optional and become a revenue service officer just based on your marks there is no rational nexus of optionals with exam outcomes.

The thing is that 'Collector being LORD of the town' thing still prevails. Sure you would not see that in big cities and state capitals but these places comprise a very little portion of the nation.
And no, people who take Sanskrit do not become revenue officers. If such a thing does exist then out of the 700-800 people only a handful of them do get designations which are different from what they chose.
As 3.1.1 pointed it out, the life is better than a corp lawyer( at least according to what I've read on this forum) and is worth 3-4 yrs of life.
This comment does not justify suicides or anything but let me tell you that you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about and I say that as 37 yr old bureaucrat who has certainly seen more of the workings of the nation in comparison to you.

Dear comment number 5, you come from the assumption that EVERYONE in India is preparing for UPSC. Let me break it to you some of us here are professional lawyers who are earning more than the Cabinet Secretary and are happy with our lives minus the sarkari VIP culture. I entered a top law school for this very reason that I do not have to give another stupid exam which requires me to just do rote learning. I sympathise with you, you might be a product of parental pressure and british slavery mindset which thinks sarkari jobs as the be all and end all. Wake up it is almost 2022, UPSC is no more the ultimate job.

The comments here show how hard it is for talented and ambitious women in India. Any achievement of theirs attracts haters and trolls. Men hate on them because they cannot deal with independent women who are more successful than them. Women hate on them because they are jealous of them (it's especially bad if the achievers happen to be good-looking as well).

It is safe to assume that legally india is a forum for lawyers and not upsc aspirants. But I see a lot of people with zero regards to the profession and legal career just land here only because they have a LLB degree. It is these people who will otherwise not be able to make a successful career in courts, law firm or in-house who harp on this UPSC thing because that's what their parents have inbred in them that UPSC is the ultimate job and then these people just go around belittling lawyers and praising sarkari babus. Mind you these people will not become either; neither a successful lawyer or be able to clear UPSC. Anyone who actually wants to clear UPSC will have the basic decency and emotional and mental faculty to realize that firstly UPSC is just one of the many career options available to a student, that it is not the same "my lord" job that it was in British times, that it is no longer the highest paying job in the country and that more intelligent minds than them are active in far more difficult fields in science, medicine and engineering and that belittling any other profession does not even befit a future bureaucrat. All you nutwhacks here just gossiping...are mere failures. A real aspirant would not have time to do all this.
