Justice G S Patel. Apart from the formatting and cosmetic bits, his writting style is lucid and crystal.
Not much substance either. Mostly rhetoric. He reserves most of the actual indignation for speeches, not orders.
DY Chandrachud - using tough English and showing off his Harvard Oxford privilege in a poor country is good writing?

The best judge is the judge who uses simple language.
What are you smoking?

Please tell the name of the weed.
It's very concise when compared to other Judges
He is not showing off his English. He is a great jurist. He has a lot of knowledge. Obviously law is based on legal language. How can he write a judgment in a legal way without using the correct legal words. I thought people don't like him
VRKI is exactly what judges should not do: explain simple concepts in proses that most people do not understand. Superfluous af.
NO.

NO WAY.

NOT EVEN CLOSE.

You need a dictionary to understand what he is trying to say.
DYC writes too much. Needs to limit himself and stick to the point.
Katju, for that lack of thrill in life. His euthanasia judgment was quite well researched too (bit too long for my taste but still).
Justice Katju is the horny boy. You should check his Facebook comments - Especially if a question is asked by a pretty woman (20 to 35)
this comment aged like a fine. J. Katju is on a generational run on Twitter
Has to be Justice G.S. Patel. Btw he pretty much follows the older American style of drafting judgements.

I find most SC Judgements unneccessarily long.
"I find most SC Judgements unneccessarily long."

Mutual feeling.
Chandrachud is the epitome of pretentiousness when it comes to writing judgements (or otherwise).
Justice Vivian Bose of the Supreme Court. Excellent and clear judgements.

In the current crop, unfortunately none.
I was scrolling down to see if I needed to add Vivian Bose to the list. Would say his judgments were the pinnacle of lucidity and brevity. Also, a little sad that those that came after him did not follow the examples set by him in the very early years of the court.
Among current lot, Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice A S Oka are miles better than DYC in terms of clarity and simplicity. DYC will write a thesis on everything but it'll be 170 paras of faff and 2 paras of actual relevance, indexed of course.
I agree on VR being better at writing than DYC. Have not read enough of Oka to comment.

VR, I just found to be more precise and to-the-point.
The judgments of R F Nariman J and A K Sikri J, when both of them sat together in a bench for tax matters. Short and to the point but we'll articulated on point of law and reasoning.
Justice Amit Bansal of Delhi high court. He writes clearly, logically with not a single extra word. Easy to understand, difficult to challenge
DYC. Sure. Tells me alot about what your intellectual level is.
DY Chandrachud doesn't write judgements. He sits and prays and God writes them for him.
Have you read my namesake, Justice Arijit Prasayat?
