A thread about NLU VCs made me start thinking about this. The reputation and successes of an NLU is very much VC-centric because of their nature. There is a coterie that often ensures that one person after finishing their tenure in one NLU, goes to another NLU, regardless of their past performance. These people would then serve in the search committees in other NLUs and ensure that other people from the coterie would in turn get selected. Still, most of them are now old and would not probably stay on for another term or two. What I am interested to know is who are the current relatively younger faculty across various NLUs and prominent private law universities who are promising enough to become the VC in various NLUs over the next decade or so? These people should already be serving as professors, because otherwise they won't qualify the UGC requirement for VCs (10 years as Professors), although you may also talk about younger faculty if you think that they would be good enough, and may become future VCs eventually. Please keep in mind the administrative capability of these people too, along with their networking skills within the industry, and not merely their publication list (though that is certainly another factor for consideration). You may also make special mention to those with empathy towards students, understanding, people-skills and vision.
Further, please do not use the thread to sling mud at people whom you do not like. If anyone has suggested someone whom you think is not the right person for the job, then just downvote it and leave it at that. While naming someone, please also mention your reasons if possible (and only if you have been part of the same institution in any capacity as the concerned person).
This thread can be used in future as a good crowdsourced list when any student or alumni body are trying to negotiate with the governing body/administration about inviting/nominating possible good candidates for the VC position. So, positive and wholesome vibes only please.
Prof. Uday Shankar, the current Registrar of HNLU is definitely the one to look out for. He started out almost with Shantakumar (current Director of GNLU) at HNLU and in a couple of years, time will be ripe for him.

Prof. Ghayur Alam, NLIU's Dean of Undergraduate Studies is also a strong candidate in the upcoming VC race. He had previously applied for MNLU-Aurangabad's VC post but was not selected.
