What's the work culture like in LKS? Is it better than tier law firms majority of which treat humans as corporate slaves? Moreover, is there any particular office which is better than the other ones?
Unless you can switch to Disputes/Commercial Lit from IDT Lit.
Any examples of such a move? Tax litigation is too technical and specific for any mobility imho
I wish if that was so simple to switch from IDT to any other practice area, after you have spent a good 3+ years in this field. Your options become very restricted after a certain point of time because you are branded as being a tax lawyer.
well it is better in DT as compared to IDT
Lots of lawyers from LKS switch to ELP, which also has a very large IDT practice. ELP's IDT practicce is slightly better than LKS's in terms of work and much better in terms of pay. I think 1/3 of IDT lawyers at ELP are from LKS. ELP keeps poaching the good ones from LKS.
Dude, not yelling should not be your or anybody's standard for a good work environment. Pull your standards out of the gutter, please.
Pune resident and fellow advocate (A1) here. Work hours are more or less same as Bombay level but pay wise there's absolutely nothing.
Why this thread isn't getting attention like other law firm posts? Bump!!
The GC and M&A practice is going good. Quite a bit of work.
largely soft spoken and people mind their own business. Partners own the work, as a matter of fact.

Pay is less, but so is the work in comparison.
What is the pay range for A0? is it different across the teams?
Have a couple more questions.
1. Is the indirect tax work segregated by sector or law or transactional / litigation?

2. Is the work life balance for indirect tax team good as well?
The GC team has good and consistent work. The work culture is far better and relaxed than what I've experienced at many T1s- there's kafi peace
No biscuits in the pantry because they literally give proper snacks instead of dry cookies that you’d be shy to take after 2nd one.
Are law graduates (T1) at a disadvantage compared to CAs when it comes to hiring for the direct tax teams?
Why CAs are even allowed to practice in courts? Can't BCI come up with something to bar them from practising? They must have dual degrees right?
Nothing like that. They don’t check your Swiggy/Zomato parcels or your tiffin. I eat non-veg almost daily in the office till date i had no issue. (mumbai office)

PS - just don’t tell anyone in office (especially seniors) that you have non veg here and it will be fine.
How is the work culture at the Chennai office? Is it better than their Mumbai office?
How is the Mumbai office? I am going to start internship their in August (Indirect Tax).
What about LKS HYDERABAD office? Any information about what they pay to an A0?
Only LKS office where you can eat non veg.
Can anyone let me know if it's a Monday-Friday working or Monday to Saturday? Starting internship there soon, and there are conflicting reports on the Internet.
Does anybody have any idea about LKS Chennai? How about the work environment? I'll be interning there for a month shortly... In the IPR wing.
hi - just wanted to know if you applied through the website portal or any other email-address.
heard from a friend who interned at the Chandigarh LKS office that WLB was terrible - associates had to stay at the office quite late - apparently, the atmosphere was horrible and no one talked to each other because they were all swamped with work.
I think in terms of work culture and experience Legalyst Advocates is better it is founded by ex-LKS who have worked there more than 8-9 years. Its a relatively new firm but sometimes there are better growth opportunities at such firms.
Its false. They were the most happening and cheerful people in the firm.
True. Sachin mishra ▮▮▮. He opened his new firm Legalyst Advocates along with other partners from LKS which is now trending in market for taxation and litigation practice.
Yes. Best in terms of quality of work, commitment to client and loyalty.
The pay at Legalyst Advocates initially might be less but later on as you gain experience it will match industry standards of any T1/T2.
And how do you know that ? You work there ?
Haha only the CA topper that you are talking about is a good man....for the rest, I better not open my mouth
Corp practice is dull and non existent. Sometimes they do well.
Hate the mods for not publishing comments and marking them trollish
HAS LKS increased it pay to 14LPA for A0?
if not how much it pays?
or how much does ELP pay in competition?
yes its true, they offered 14 to Nujs peeps 2025 batch
