I guess everyone knows what has been happening for the past 24 hours or so, regarding the JGLS pol science course for BA LLB. Yet another assault on academic freedom. Very disturbingly the names of the professors, including lady professors, are being shared on Twitter and FB by blue-tick BJP supporters with thousands of followers. Complaints have been made to Twitter and FB but they are not removing the posts. God only knows what will happen to their safety now.

NLU students have always been hostile towards JGLS. But you must support JGLS now, because they will come for your college next.

It is an orchestrated attempt by the RW to pressurise Jindal.

A political science course module at Jindal had excerpts from various readings. A twitter user, quite influential among the RW circles shared a snippet of a reading, which mentioned something along the lines of "India[n Government] has commanded unwarranted control over Kashmir, and Kashmir belongs only to Kashmiris". In my opinion, it is an A-1 critical view, something we can all argue about in an academic, nonplussed way. But this nuance was lost when it started doing the rounds on social media, people began to target Mr Dean Jindal and everyone involved. Total stupidity.

Bhai I am from Jindal, I feel oppressed because people like you have put an end to academic discourse on campus. Especially, since you represent all of us on these platforms. Bhai you claim to be left wing afaik left wing is the flag beerer of criticism and free speech. I can’t criticise what I am being taught in campus and now I can’t criticise the same on twitter too?

By the way, you got to get out of the mindset that every criticism aimed at a policy decision of the government is anti national. By that logic, your supremo was an anti national throughout the UPA regime, since he kept on making disparaging comments at the government throughout. That didn't stop him from pursuing many of the same policies during his own time though. At least be rational in your approach.

Stop reading between the lines. I never said that and I was not even talking to you. My comment was for the OP who is a JGU student and they know what tweets and criticism I am talking about. I talked about students celebrating the death of martyrs. Arre leave martyrs, a lot of you commies probably don’t consider them martyrs but celebrating death of anyone in itself is an issue and I was pointing out how the academic curriculum is contributing to this toxic culture and that we do not have a forum inside campus to protest the same.
