It seems like a lot of non lawyers have joined this forum recently. Topics discussing law firm issues barely get any replies and the OP keeps bumping to get any attention while political threads gets 3 to 4 times more replies in less time.
There are some comments which make the pedigree of the author very clear.
Prime amongst them is people without a criminal and constitutional law background trying to act cool. Why can't they wait for some discussion to happen on corporate laws, transactions etc. to post a well informed comment?

The only thing is, people barely discuss law here don't they? A few days back I saw a post which asked some very basic IBC interpretation. Something very difficult for a student or a first year to understand, but in a practice anybody would give that answer in a jiffy. So the forum is actually not about law per se but 99 pc has always been about career in law. If you take politics and UPSC out of that (taking your example) what use is this forum? Conversely, on Ananya Pandey case (actually linked to Aryan Khan thread) there was some very interesting discussion on the application of law. Yes, there are trolls and abusers and some highly questionable responses to everything, but shouldn't the standards be raised to address those, rather than block them?
As lawyers we should apply an objective test, do these political discussions hinder our legal discussions? I do not think so. Barely any legal discussion gets missed due to political discussions. As scholars of law there is an extended onus on us to ensure freedom of expression. Moreover politics and law are interrelated to an extent that it is nearly impossible to look at them as separate entities. A reason why cabinet ministers are majoritaringly lawyers. The constitution is political af. The ndps act is political af. Every act and legislation is political for that matter, your statement sounds really peaceful in theory but how do expect R to impose it in practicality because the divide between the two is thinner than durex, y’all will just keep snapping at him for applying his discretion

Yes please lets keep this related to law and law as a profession. Politics, upsc, and ananya pandey can be discussed elsewhere. There are so many forums for the other topics, but for law we only have legally india. Please maintain its sanctity.
Nahi re. It's easy: after LI stopped covering news, the Conversation feature is the only thing that it has going. There will be massive shortfall in visit numbers. Gossip sells. All the time. Just hope the news coverage issue is resolved ASAP.
More than happy to do that - although that will have an effect on visit numbers. Sometimes though it's difficult to differentiate. Aryan Khan case is a classic example which although political has an interesting law debate. The PM Care fund thread similarly. Will be interested to know what LI readers think on this. For this thread I will not allow any trolling comments but just what LI readers feel and accordingly it can be decided. And yes, before someone asks, separating the section for political debates may not be immediately feasible.
Can we please have a rule which disallows political content on the forums? The link to LI was posted on some RW groups and it hasn't been the same since then. Imo this forum shouldn't be free real estate for political shithousery, irrespective of what ideology is being promoted. Why can't we keep Legally India limited to discussions involving law? There are enough spaces on the internet to discuss politics.
