On the flipside Partners will shout at you in front of everyone and will be on top of your head when they are in office. Can be a bit sexist too.
Work environment varies from firm to firm. Generally, no one cares about your law school (they care A LOT about your family contacts in law though). Can't comment on the sexism personally but this experience would vary from firm to firm. It cannot be denied that a lot of sexism does exist in litigation though (more than in a corporate practice).
Pay at local Bombay disputes firms is generally much lesser than what T1s would pay. Some firms pay a decent salary but some pay absolute peanuts (18-20k/month).
Anyone. And I mean anyone including senior practitioners who say this is a great place to work at. .... My dear. They are getting their fees on time or your senior doesn't want you. Oh and the most important part. .... They have never worked under the same roof. The grass is always greener on the other side and I beleive ya'll should really send your own kids here without these guys knowing it's your kid.
Do not go for anyone's birthday here SPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE POLITELY invited. If you want to ... Go at your own risk but please .... Do not take a thing to Eat or Drink. Preserve your dignity. If you eat something here even by accident at a group gathering specially birthdays MAKE SURE you are paying it or make a public announcement that yes you have eating something from the table and also paid for it upfront in front of everyone regardless of their designation.
PAY : Take the Seed off that pea nut. No my friend. You don't get what's left ( the bigger pieces of the nut you get the chaff ) You will be working your arse off In excess of 18 hours at times here with nothing.
CONVEYANCE : Travel by local train ( cab, Olas and Ubers are beyond their budget, late night cab sanctions... Don't even think about it. Not even at the railways station. Apparently their aukad is toooooooooooo high ) reimbursements ( if they feel ) after a month and a half.
Offer Letter : Don't ask for it. Kaam baaki hai.
Letter confirming Appointment : Whats that ?
Rest is upto you boss what you wanna do here with your life and future. ( If you think you have one ). There's a lot more curses people have thrown and believe me people are ready to suffer to throw curses and theres a whole lot of it coming their way in this lifetime.
