Hello everyone, can you please list out pros and cons of Litigation v Judiciary? Which field should be aimed in terms of salary, growth, work life balance etc.

Thanks!
Salary: 1st gen lawyers are paid peanuts or sometimes nothing, whereas a fresher judge gets 75k per month plus perks. (The salary of judges will increase even further after the implementation of the second Judicial pay commission to around 85-90k per month.

The income of a litigation lawyer who is good at what it does with 5-7 years of practice will easily earn a lot more money than a judge in lower judicial services.

Growth: Your chances of elevation from bar to bench is next to impossible if you are a first gen lawyer, becoming a senior advocate also takes time (Becoming an AOR is comparatively less time consuming compared to Sr. adv)

The career growth of judges in the lower judiciary has improved quite significantly and one might even become a High Court Judge if they join the service early.(around 23)

Work life balance: Does not exist in litigation, in the case of judicial Services, fixed timings, adequate holidays and leaves are provided.
