Is it possible that R has caused some harm to Kian...tied him on a bed with ropes or a chair and taken control of LI? Some kind of a hacker. Else Kian would have replied by now. Disappearing for months isn't what Kian does. We don't know if R has really chained him to take control of this website

In an idealistic world, lot of the criticism towards R is probably warranted. But if you're a realist (or 'cynic' as I have sometimes been referred to), you'd presume that R has access to data (which none of the readers/commentators (comentors?) have), and his/her moderation is based on what drives the traffic.

Though I really wish LI finds a way of becoming fully uncensored (just tags, no hiding posts). Again, I know that's wishful thinking, too many political and legal ramifications. One can always hope.

Look the news didnt stop because you guys stopped reporting it. And maybe you have a shot at getting serious posts to have some traction if the home page wasn't always so inundated with nonsense. People could cross-post news from other websites and discuss them here cause the discussion feature on B&B and Live law etc are not very good. But to get to that point- You need to discourage the nonsense. Don't publish something unless its directly relevant to the legal profession. Dont publish multiple posts about the same damn thing- even reddit mods have mega threads/ pinned posts to minimise this. No one needs a discussion on which law school has the best dating life- which is a ridiculous question in the first place. Nor do we need this to become some adda where men discuss which actress they find hot. You don't have to approve every nonsensical post that someone bored at three AM makes that barely has any connection to the work or life of lawyers. If you enforce better standards- you will eventually get better/ more relevant posts. If you pander to our base instincts- that's what you'll encourage and soon enough people will stop visiting the website because they just don't want to read this nonsense.

R needs to be pulled up. he is extremely biased and prejudiced. Unfair almost always with his tags.

Role of a moderator must be limited to prevent violation of a law. tagging something as trollish needs to have certain clear and open parameters. Polish should and cannot be the basis. If something is not prohibited, it is allowed. Random subjective moderation is equivalent to running propoganda.

I mean the whole tone of the site has suffered no? There’s no news anymore at all and there’s no professional behaviour at all. It’s pseudo Reddit for those kids at NLUs who are too young to know Reddit exists. Let’s approve posts where people are asked who their favourite actress is (a high school level code for just asking people who they spank it to) , approve posts where people constantly stress about dating and relationships, and approve posts where- to an offensive degree- people spout some nonsense while comparing themselves to victims of the Holocaust. Moderation is about more than free speech. It’s also about ensuring that this remains a decent website to visit and this stuff is just an eyesore. It’s like the site is overrun by bored NLU students with nothing to do. Shame too cause I liked having a place to talk about the profession.

Some of the stuff this R person has been encouraging makes me think they just don’t understand who LIs readership is/used to be.

Going through old threads, I've found out a good chunk of my replies and a lot of others have not been published. I don't recall a single instance of my comment being moderated when Kian was around. On top of that, R has been using the official LI account to post random bs that everyone has a problem with. R, your job is moderation, not policing. You can't suppress comments you disagree with. Your complete lack of a sense of humour is making LI barren. Kian, please reprimand this fellow and come up with a coherent moderation policy. I would counsel allowing everything (I would like to read unpublished comments) unless somebody is calling for violence or it's just uncouth abuses). We can't leave moderation to the whims and wishes of this dude, it is killing LI.
