In my personal opinion, this war has originated out of toxic freedom of religion ideologies. Religions (not just islam) must be regulated. Some of the most treacherous things have been mentioned in those holy books irrespective of the religion and we choose to ignore them in the name of freedom of religion. Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism are all extremely patriarchal and violent in nature, albeit different degrees. A huge portion of Christianity ignores the repressive stuff in Bible because theyโve been educated. It can be clearly seen that uneducated hindu families still practice some of the most repressive practices like ghunghat, baal vivaah etc in the name of freedom of religion. Islam has prescribed stoning to death as a punishment for some of the most minor offences. We tend to ignore a religion and itโs practices wherein women are objectified and men are allowed to have 4 wives. All of this under freedom of religion. Now it comes to bite back and all educational institutions for women will be demolished in Afghanistan. Why stay quiet? Have you ever looked into the oppressive curriculum taught in Madarsas? See I know all of this is very controversial, but think about it. In one part of the world, we are talking about queer rights and in other part of the world women are not allowed to drive vehicles and we collectively choose to ignore it. We collectively choose to ignore everything wrong with the society thereby lending credibility to Taliban and others. And now that evil is upon us we would blame it on US, Biden and Trump. Not to absolve them of any responsibility, we are equally responsible. Religion has always remained a back route to bypass and suppress individual rights and freedoms. Some rules in such religions must be put against the test of rationality. After all religion is meant to guide us and provide us with a way of life, not dictate it.
