Why do you have to make everything about ranking? LLP is about specialisation in your area of interest. I would prefer Allahabad University over others if the faculty of my choice is over there than somewhere else. Also, you don't seem to have any idea about the LLM landscape in India. For what other reason, can you justify not even considering some of the best places in India such as Indian Law Institute, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, South Asian University, TERI University (Environment law program) etc?
There’s still a lot of competent faculty left at APU. It’s a good programme.some of their alumni have succeeded in following exactly the path you’ve described. That is - get a teaching job here and then go on to do another masters/ PhD abroad.
Cost is very difficult to answer in terms of generalities. If you’re doing two llms you’re also paying in time. I would suggest you apply everywhere your heart desires in the first instance and simply go where you get the most money. Having a prior llm itself might not help you much with future applications - unless you can get excellent references / publish papers from your prior llm.
It did have a niche at a human rights/development oriented LLM. But that's gone now, that Sudhir moved to Law School, and other top people like Thiruvengadam followed him there.
Hello! Just wanted some information regarding the LLM program in Azim Premji University. I am aware it's on law and development and from the looks of it, seems to have a good faculty. Wanted some specific info on -
1. How is the llm?
2. How helpful would it be for someone who wishes to pursue academia/research compared to an LLM from aborad (LSE/UCL type places)
3. In terms of cost, does it make sense to go for an India based LLM and land a teaching job and thereafter try for an elite school abroad? would this better my chances of getting a better ranked school?
