If so, please do study hard for CLAT and go to an NLU. It'll be a good for you. Hopefully you'll have a great time there, gain a lot of perspective and knowledge, and learn to live and let live (or at least keep your judgements to yourself).
Just some final food for thought. If lawyers like Gandhi, Nehru, etc had obeyed the law, do you we'd be citizens of an independent India?
"Tomorrow if your friends jump in a well, will you do it too?" But my friends are not jumping in the well. Those people are not committing murders. So why exaggerate?
From my experience and from others, I could say with certainty that you will a very wide spectrum of people in every institution. Interactions with diverse personalities make you humble and nonjudgmental.
I m a T totaller, but I am able to enjoy a nice party where peers are gulping down gallons of alcohol. And it has never been the case that others have ever tried to force me to take drugs or alcohol. They have always been respectful and protective.
Just let your boundaries be known to your peers beforehand. Don't do things which you don't like just to appear cool. If you don't bow down to peer pressure in the firsr semester, you are set for the rest of your college life
You will also find MANY others in the college who share your likes / dislikes. So it's not like that that everyone who goes to NLU will turn out a junkie or alcoholic.
It's our job to look at things critically. To make sure we change the laws, for the better.
Law ko follow toh sarkaari baabu bhi kar leta hai.
This culture percolates right through the top. Everyone who has been to SAM's orientation parties knows about that one Partner who forces every fersher associate to chug a shot down.
That said, there are plenty of people who survive unaffected by it. Also, people who smoke weed / drink alcohol are not necessarily a waste.
The guy who consumed most amount of weed from my batch is a Judge in one of the most sought after state / UT. (oops, giveaway)
Another guy who used to get sloshed at every party is also a judge. One guy who did both (one year senior), is also a Judge.
If you don't want to, don't. Be stern. If somebody forces it down your throat despite you having said no - knee that person in the crotch and run. Make a big deal out of it. Everyone will be with you. Don't blow things out of proportion though.
Very important to find your tribe and stick with them. You can't fit in with a group that smokes up everyday and not smoke up with them.
So its not that you will left alone, sober, in the middle of druggies :) You will have your gang, who will stand by you in protecting your interests. Suggestion - make good dependable friends.
All this a headache for later
My advice? Stop being a snowflake and learn how to live in the real world, outside of the comforts of your bubble.
B) if you find someone forcing free stuff on you, could you return here and share some contact details. I wouldn't mind free stuff.
C) quite often it is the likes of you - sheltered, shaking in their shoes from the mention of drugs - who are partying the longest the minute they are out of the shadow of their parents. Give yourself the opportunity to get to know the real you.
If you are at any university, and you want to stay away from these activities, then you can make that decision and not engage in them. Just like the authorities, even you can turn a blind eye to them.
