The fanboy part of the judgment is not binding. Karnataka HC does not have any jurisdiction to pronounce on the nature of the other NLUs anyway.

What were those compulsions? Did NLSIU finally realise that they cannot keep taking money from the state and then saying that they have got nothing to do with the state? Why don't they ask the central government to fund them, or their darling BCI instead?

Only 70 out of 120 seats are merit seats, rest are reserved seats for SC/ST/Domicile. Death of merit thanks to cheap populism by both LW and RW politicians.

I don't know why Sudhir caved into pressure, but we are hoping that the SC will follow the Kar HC decision and the special status of NLSIU will be restored.The argument is very sound: It was BCI which set up NLSIU. BCI itself challenged the reservation.

NLUD is now the only truly national NLU. It should get a higher perception score i NIRF than NLSIU now. NLSIU can no longer get 100% n perception.

Now that NLSIU has also got a state quota will their students and alumni support the cause for nationalising NLUs? It's high time Meenakshi Lekhi's Bill is passed.

this is horizontal reservation; previously there were about 10-15% students who were from karnataka, so in effect this new mechanism will provide reservation for around 10% students.

This a game changer, because NLUD joins CLAT next year and many people may place it as the top choice. NLSIU's rank 1 monopoly may be about to end.

Calm down, people. If the SC upholds the Karnataka ruling this notification is worth less than toilet paper. A crack team of alumni are handling the case. Mark my prediction: this will be the first and last year of reservation, the SC will rule in favour of the college.

Alumni should have challenged reservation in all NLUs, not just NLSIU. They have now paid the price for going it alone and ignoring others.
