Clients pay for your travel and not firms. Few clients pay for business class for partners (not referring to MPs), leave aside the associates.
On a separate (and probably more realistic note):

Do (Tier-1) law firms give Partners business class for domestic travel? If not, at what level can you get?
What's with this sense of entitlement and inflated ego? Ratan Tata, a person wealthier and more important than all the indian law firms combined, travel economy. A banal good for nothing contract vetting law associate doesn't need luxury he doesn't deserve.
He does it by choice, not because his company won't reimburse him otherwise. There's a difference.
OP is an idiot, but why did you have to go off on associates eking out a living doing what they can? What makes an associate good for nothing, and you somehow the arbiter of this? Get a life
At SAM, as a matter of policy, all associates (including, A0s) fly business class for international travel.
Which A0 is going on an international flight? It is like saying SAM A0s fly business class when they go to outer space.
the question was about policy, and not whether there is an actual opportunity to travel. there are numerous instances of associates, senior associates at SAM - flying business class on international travel.
Client here. Our Engagement Letters specifically say "if we are reimbursing, everyone flies economy".
Apart from maybe arbitration teams, which other Indian lawyers need international travel?
