Why does Trilegal restrict it only to 2 NLU's ?? Instead of opening it up to all law students??
look at where the fellowships are being organised - you have your answer.
Trilegal's founders and a lot of current decision-makers are all from NLS.
Nishith Bhai is not a NLU product.
This may not be the reason but might have had some impact.
Quality control is actually easier at the top NLUs. Sure, there are a couple of excellent students at other NLUs, but if you had to look at as few CVs as possible to select 2 brilliant people, NLS and NLUD (Substitute for NALSAR NUJS) are your best bets.
Also, the new Facebook fellowship also is only open to NLS NLUD NUJS NLUJ (iirc).
Facebook also announced a research fellowship for only 4 NLUs recently. For some weird reasons they didn't include NALSAR in those 4 NLUs.
Or NALSAR chose not to have a tech company direct its tech research agenda
If you think law schools have a spine and would choose to opt out of a fellowship, you are (probably) wrong.
Can you tell me more about this? Couldn't find much on Google
