No one gives a damn in India about these one year or correspondence degrees, the only thing in legal recruitment brownie points that matters is if you are LLB from NLU and not a master of xyz from NLU.

MBL is useless. Just a decorative degree.

If you are a law graduate, study a good LLM degree which can be useful in multiple ways.

If you are BA, BCom, BBA or BTech graduate, you should study 3-year LLB if you want to become a lawyer.

Do an MBA otherwise. MBL through distance learning doesn't make any sense.

In reality, an MBL is a niche specialised course meant for business-oriented lawyers and non-lawyers. It should be taught in the classroom and supplemented by industry internships. 1. Just because people who do not know better write MBL in their LinkedIn profiles does not mean they can use the NLSIU brand name!

2. An MBL is not comparable to LLM from anywhere. These are two different programs, and nothing good will come out of comparing them.

3. If you need to write the word 'huge' in caps, then the world will assume you do not know much about whatever it is that you are speaking about.

I disagree with the comments and encourage people to take this course. The NLSIU brand name is HUGE and many MBL grads write it on their LinkedIn. There is a reason for it. NLSIU's 100% NIRF perception score did not happen overnight. I think it's more prestigious to be an NLSIU MBL alum than an LLM alum from other NLUs, even if the NLSIU MBL is a correspondence course.

I am going to list out some pros and cons below. None of these are necessarily specific to MBL@NLSIU but relate to any distance education course run by any national law school - whether degree or diploma.

Pros
- If you do not come from a Top 5/7 NLU school, then this course will give you access to readings you might not otherwise encounter in law school,
- If you come from a law faculty of a traditional university or its affiliated colleges, then this course will additionally provide you a roadmap of the largish field of (rather badly named) business laws.

Cons
- It will not give you the NLSIU brand name.
- It will not give you connections via faculty or students at NLSIU.
- It will not be counted as a PG degree to allow you to move into academia.
- You may find that the course has almost zero value addition to your CV.
- If you are already well versed in the field of 'business laws,' you may find the materials to be basic.
- The contact hours are seldom worth it.

It's a sham of a course. Totally online, ZERO classroom instruction. Don't do it! There are a few MBL courses offered worldwide, go for those. Below are 2 good universities. If you can't afford it, then do an online course where there is interaction. Even that it better than the NLSIU MBL.
