This is related to the other topic on LI about Cyril Shroff opposing foreign law firms, but merits a separate thread. The issue is not just about Cyril Shroff. There are other vested lobbies that deliberately want to keep the legal profession backward and keep wages low and jobs limited for young lawyers. The only way to fight this is to create a counter-lobby and counter-narrative and directly target this Gang of 3 frustrating the entry of law firms: Ravi Shankar Prasad and Manan Mishra/BCI (ie. the Bihar lawyers and trial court lawyers lobby)+ SILF (i.e. desi law firm lobby)..Since the Modi sarkar is deadly afraid of "toolkits", I am suggesting a toolkit below.

1. Manan Mishra/BCI need to be attacked by raking up the old issue of the law college recognition scam plus corruption in the trial courts and fleecing clients. Start writing articles in the Wire targeting the BCI and calling or its dissolution like the Medical Council of India. Use hashtags like #MishraResign #ShameOnBCI #VultureLawyers. Meanwhile, build a narrative on RW Twitter than Mishra is an ex-Congress and ex-BSP man. Also, Harish Salve's videos supporting foreign law firm entry needs to be highlighted, since RW Titter supports him.

2. Similarly, the #VultureLawyers hashtag works for SILF. Also, the raid on a law firm in the Nirav Modi case must be amplified. Further, cases of sexual harassment need to be amplified through articles like "Sexual Harassment rampant in Indian Law firms". For every SH case, the managing partner must be held as indirectly accountable for allowing this culture.

3. RS Prasad: The left hates him for not doing any judicial reforms and on the appointment fo judges. The right hates him for allow "ant-national" voice on social media (he is also IT minister). Thus, he needs to be attacked with articles like "Who is the Worst Performing Minister in the Modi govt?" and hashtags like #SackRSPrasad.

4. This narrative also needs to build in the foreign media: NYT, WaPo, Barkha, Rana Ayyub etc. Also, "anti-India" politicians in the US/UK can be approached to build the narrative that India is protectionist and H1B visas for IT professionals/BPO outsourcing must be stopped unless foreign law firms are allowed. .

5. Pro-market Congress politicians like Tharoor, Chidambaram and Milind Deora need to be approached.
Suddenly when you realize that it's all the law firms like CAM and SILF lawyers who are senior guys have been fighting to stop foreign law firms, you wonder why does everyone hail them.It makes you doubt their abilities when they are obsessively blocking out foreign law firms.
