I don't know why you're invoking bimpa's spirit years after he's left, but things did change for the better after he left and the new director stepped in. GNLU wont be winning any awards for student welfare any time soon but it's not the hellhole it used to be.
Because teacher has all the power in this relationship. Understand power dynamics and privilege. Thoda padh lo, fir baat karenge.
Buddy padh likh k vakeel bano, kuch paisa kamao aur sabse pehle ye socho ki jab mera kuch lena dena hi nahi hai so why should I speak up when I have nothing to do with GNLU.
Teachers also have the tool of social media platform. In fact, I stifled free speech in my times by restricting students from writing emails to their batches.
It is very unfortunate that faculty from an esteemed NLU like GNLU are doing like this.
My appointment as the director was also unfair. Do you have anything to say about it?
"Uploading videos in a disproportionate measure"? Are you even listening to yourself?
Ya right. All the harassment in GNLU happens only with the faculty. slow claps
Student welfare in GNLU? Are you talking about Before Christ?
LI readership skews heavily towards students and this is reflected in the comments section as well, and it doesn't help that Kian seems hellbent on making NLU faculties appear like enemies of student welfare.

I'm not making her out to be a hero, I am rather very much of the opinion that pretty much everything she said was avoidable, unnecessary and not becoming of a teacher. I also do feel that none of it was outrageous enough to warrant a social media trial and cancel culture.
LI is to blame as well. Their default journalistic position is to side with students and bash admin/faculty no matter what, even if the student is wrong.

The student who started this conversation should be ashamed of himself. You have not only harassed an innocent person but you have also destroyed all trust between students and professors of GNLU and let down the reputation of the college.
Nothing of that excuses the teacher's response and mannerism. I heard the clip just like you did. She didn't come out of it smelling like roses. Nobody behaved badly with her either that it could have been construed as a heat of the moment utterance.
I'm just sad that they are producing human beings like you. [...]
PLEASE REMOVE THIS TOPIC. Legally India is trying to incite indiscipline and anti-establishment culture in our NLUs and turn them into JNU. Please respect that NLUs have been set up to produce lawyers and not anarchists like Kanhaiya.
'People' defending her here are so transparent, they are trying to deliberately turn the focus on her past actions to take the attention away from her present one.
There lies the problem. Who is there to check the allegations the anonymous people throw left right centre.
Doesn't make sense. Several facts are being contested. It is not as clean as a handful of students are trying to make it.

The teacher said all those things in open class, not to someone in private. How were the students violating her privacy? If she is comfortable saying all those things in class then she should also be comfortable if those things are held up against her.
Its unfair to even run this story in a conversation form. LI should take down the content. Its very unfair.
Who are you to become the judge, jury etc. and pronounce your verdict?
Her voice was clearly heard in the video. The 'whole thing'.

Are you claiming that the video had been doctored?
She is the best faculty of GNLU. Its very unfortunate that students used two standalone statements. She was trying to convey that we should stay strong in tough times. Noone bothered to hear faculty's version before jumping on to conclusions.
If the student wants to name the teacher openly, why has the student posted by an anonymous id?
If you dont hesitate to shame the teacher, why dont you name yourself too?
Is she claiming her privacy is violated? hahahaha man where was this when she confiscated a student's cellphone and went through his photo gallery
Such vanilla efforts at damage control. What it should have announced was awareness workshops for the faculty and staff.
I'm shocked that you are shocked at completely the wrong thing. Your misplaced sense of priority is, well, shocking.
Dictating how other people would react/respond to insensitivity is not the indicator of education or empathy.
Outrage to this seems a little disproportionate. What she said is clearly insensitive but doesn't warrant such a strong response or backlash.

The fact that the education of the young is entrusted to such people is enough for me to start looking for those anti-depressants.
Please remove this page at once. It is highly defamatory and misogynistic against a beloved and kind professor and violated her privacy. Some person with malice has posted it. I am shocked this page is allowed.
"If you want to make yourself strong, then act strongly". Sounds suspiciously like if you want to protect yourself from COVID, then get your own damned vaccine!
