As the title says. Is counsel practice in Bombay worth it for someone who's from and lives in town (for generations), typical business family, GLC 3rd year (was interning until the pandemic) but, is still the first in his family to practice law.
One's aware that glittering prizes won't just fall into one's lap but is the almost decade long struggle worth it?
If so, what's work like at the Original Side of the HC, the City civil court and small causes court?

It is exactly a person like this that Counsel Practice is meant for! There is plenty of work in the subordinate courts and at the tribunals. If you can sustain for a few years then you must get into counsel practice in Bombay.
Why is there a separation in Bombay in the first place? Unlike Senior Advocates who are barred by law from filing Vakalatnama, why do Counsels not file Vakalatnama? What purpose does this Advocate on Record - Counsel separation serve?
it's a relic of the time solicitor's were relevant but I think it also streamlines the process, reduces pressure to 'look for clients' - of course the pressure to be briefed by firms is separate, but once you're in, you're mostly in - as opposed to looking for clients constantly.
