oh it is very viable - you have a very enviable position - although just be sure that you will not have too much flexibility in the work you do or be able to switch easily if you don't end up liking law. plus if parents find out you don't like tax law they may start drama
Hi. Can we please connect. I'm preparing to start my career in the tax team of a firm, and you seem plenty experienced. Would love to get some advice.
i am graduating this year and exploring tax as an area (not sure of direct or indirect) i am not sure as i have no prior internships in tax, and have few other doubts too, and you seem to be experienced, can we please connect too
Are there any young lawyers who are doing well as tax litigators in Bombay/Delhi? Or is the field entirely dominated by CAs in the ITAT and Senior Counsel in the High Courts?
>IDT practices are dominated by retired departmental employees.

Lakshmikumaran Sridharan is a prime example of another aspect of this. Half the firm is ex-department.
Similar to SVLDRS even in Maharashtra Sales Tax, amnesty schemes are coming literally every year. The sales tax tribunal is also turning into a graveyard
Focus only on one thing - disputes and some extent of advisory. If you're good at advocacy, you'll make it. Especially in GST, where the Tribunal formation is around the corner.
I don't understand why people say that there is no scope in taxation come on just look at the amount of demand notices that companies are getting from income tax and GST departments mostly all of the cases are going to atleast high court
