Why is no one pointing out the fact that some of these alums are literally 4+ PQE (at the time of posting)? In 4 years your degree matters less. T1 NLUs for one show off only their final year students and recent graduates. Old alum are only shown off in cases of those who make partner / clear competitive exams / get elevated to judgeship / win the most selective scholarships

Interesting thread. Nonetheless, instead of or in addition to these gimmicks, NLS should publish aggregate figures of hirers/packages if the course is indeed tenable. As a prospective student, that's the info that will be truly telling of the quality and future of this new course. While the choices look diverse and dynamic (having looked at the career journeys of some of these folks), I am keenly waiting for some facts and figures to be published please.

It explains that you nothing about the course or the college, and just want to spam. Not even 5% of the MPP batch is from a law background, it's a completely different course and not related to law, and offers a much wider perspective than our law degree tbh.

You cannot teach law in this country without an LLM and that's a fact. Are you changing the existing regulations by your word alone, o Master Legislator? The people mentioned here to be teaching have either got an LLM too, or they aren't teaching law in those universities. [...]

People such as yourself with your insular mentality about institutional excellence are the reason why Indians and Indian universities don't have much of a global reputation in any sense. Ironic that you claim no one cares about QS when the Indian government itself seems to be offering cutbacks to universities that feature high in the global rankings. If NLS doesn't care for QS, why did it bother applying last year? Explain that.

Looks like the NLS trolls are shamelessly downvoting what appears to be the only sensible comment in this thread. Clearly, no one gives this much of a c*ap about this MPP programme to form an entire thread about it and "tweeting" incessantly about it, except for the PR-hungry trolls of NLS. Sad to see how low the standards have fallen that they want to take on colleges like JGLS in their own game.
Why don't you folks who are singing praises about NLS justify why NLS isn't even featured in this year's QS Rankings? Don't tell me the admin chickened out on it after losing out to JGLS last year.

Yet more alumni achievements tweeted today. What's very interesting is the diversity of career choices. This programme is turning out to be almost as prestigious as the BALLB course. It's also good option for grads of other NLUs who cannot go abroad for higher studies. Instead of an LLM in India (which is not well perceived) they can try for an MPP at NLSIU.

As for comparisons with the JGLS MPP, I could not find info on their alumni achievements, but I don't think anyone will turn down NLSIU for JGLS, which is unaffordable for middle-class students.

NLUD LLM actually attract better students not because of their faculty, but entirely because of administrative proactiveness. Among all the NLUs, NLUD and GNLU admins are currently the most active in terms of outreach, PR, careful dealing with masters students, not treating them as second string people compared to LLB students etc. Not sure whether NLUD would be able to sustain that now that RS isn't there anymore. But if they do, good students would invariably go down there.

I don’t generally comment on this site but lately, I’ve noticed a trend of comments which have been needlessly trying to push up NLS’ image while underhandedly trying to put down other NLUs.

Is this a new kind of PR effort [...]? Or are most of you just unrelenting NLS fanboys/student trolls that have nothing better to do than stalk achievements of NLUs ([...]) and flame a comments war on this site? I’m genuinely curious.

In either case, I would suggest that these [...] authors do their research before setting off to a conclusion. In this thread alone, the [...] who commented first claims other NLUs offer MPP, which they don’t. NLS started this MPP in 2014, nearly 25 years after its foundation. And NLS’ LLM isn’t the most sought after in the country, I’ve seen that NLUD attracts better students in the past 4-5 years especially because of their faculty (maybe that might change now).
Secondly, why are NLS students so insecure about their college that they feel the need to troll every comments thread with random achievements (which most other top NLUs match these days) while making it look like NLS is the only one to have achieved that? Clearly, NLS doesn’t have the same reputation it had 10 years ago when it was considered definitively superior to most other NLUs. The difference is very less today and that too based on legacy parameters like alumni and not on current student performances.

Sure. It has not been 7-8 years, only 5 batches have graduated so far and MOST seem well placed, earning good packages in MNCs, int'l/ national dev consulting orgs, thinktanks, or avg packages in grassroot orgs and academia. I even saw some leading public policy verticals of uber, Netflix, etc. Afaik they are posting these fliers every week or something with diff themes of employers. IMHO it is commendable given how new the course is.

NLSIU's own LLM isn't any better in terms of quality compared to other NLUs. MPP seems to be different, although 4 people out of a total alumni strength of over 200 over the last 7-8 years aren't exactly indicators of a programme quality. Moreover, these people have clearly been working elsewhere after graduation. So to what extent their career success is due to the MPP course or the institution itself is debatable.

NLSIU just tweeted some achievements of MPP grads. This is exceptional for such a new course, especially considering that masters programmes at other NLUs are in a pathetic state and MPP is already offered by other colleges. NLSIU genuinely needs to be commended for this. It keeps setting new benchmarks.
