As readers may be aware from our earlier post, ‘Telecom Regulator Seeks Comments on Proposed Regulations for OTT Services’, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (“TRAI”) had issued a ‘Consultation Paper on Regulatory Framework for Over-the-top (“OTT”) services’ inviting comments from the stakeholders on the issue.

The much awaited consultation process witnessed millions of responses being filed with the TRAI. Besides the telecom service providers, OTT players, industry associations and other stakeholders expressing their concerns, the TRAI received a plethora of responses from the general public, including internet advocates and consulting organisation.

The authors of ‘The Local Loop – A Technology, Media & Telecom Law Resource’ had also submitted their views and response to the issues for consideration raised by the TRAI in the consultation paper. The response submitted to the TRAI has now been made available on this website.

With the TRAI having received millions of responses, it would be a similar number that would wait for the decision in the sector. This decision would lay the foundation for the internet and OTT industry in the country. The responses received by the TRAI have been published on its website.

THE RESPONSE SUBMITTED TO THE TRAI CAN BE VIEWED HERE.
