Indus gets competitive again: Hires JSA Delhi’s Unnati Agrawal (ILS ‘10) as comp partner

IndusLaw has restored an essential piece of a modern full-service corporate offering, adding J Sagar Associates (JSA) principal associate Unnati Agrawal as a partner in its competition practice based in Delhi.

Indus co-founding partner Avimukt Dar commented in a press release that her hire would add “strength to IndusLaw’s competition law practice”

“We... look forward to building out our contentious and non-contentious practice offerings in order to help clients navigate India’s rapidly evolving regulatory framework,” he said.

After the departure of competition partners Rahul Goel and Anu Monga who primarily did competition (in addition to some telecoms and anti-dumping work), she is the first pureplay competition partner at the firm again since November 2020, with the practice area having been headed up by Delhi-based Dar, who also does a range of other corporate and regulatory advisory work.

Agrawal, a 2010 ILS Pune graduate with a 2011 LLM from King’s College London, had been at JSA in Delhi for three years after nearly three years at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai (see biography below).

According to Indus, she has “deep experience of representing and advising businesses, banks and financial institutions in relation to a broad range of competition law matters”, including competition and merger control issues in M&A transactions, as well as representing “businesses in complex and high-profile antitrust litigation (including cartel cases)" and commercial competition law advice.

Agrawal added: “I have long admired IndusLaw for their expertise and tremendous growth to emerge as one of the leading law firms in India. Hence, I’m very excited to be joining the team to help drive the firm’s future growth.”

We have reached out to JSA for comment.

She is IndusLaw‘s 47th partner out of more than 220 fee-earners.

The firm had opened up its equity partnership to eight partners in July of last year.
