Titus & Co has lifted this year’s Delhi Twenty20 law firm cricket cup trophy after a nail biting victory against Saikrishna in Sunday's finals.
Team Titus had won against Bhasin & Co in the semi-finals on Saturday, having scored 205 runs and losing only three wickets in 20 overs. Bhasin & Co opted to chase after winning the toss but was unable to reach the target and finished at 191 runs in 20 overs.
Titus & Co business development manager Saurabh Anand was declared man of the match in the semi-final against Bhasin after hitting a century.
Saikrishna had defeated Desai & Diwanji in the first semi-final held on Saturday after making a total of 145 runs in 20 overs with the loss of eight wickets. The Desai & Diwanji team could not chase up and were left short of 15 runs at the end of the last over.
In the final between Titus & Co and Saikrishna, Saikrishna won the toss and decided to bat first, making 167 runs before losing all their wickets.
Titus then successfully managed to chase-up 168 for a loss of 8 wickets in the second innings of this year’s finals, ultimately winning by 2 wickets.
Titus captain and partner Vibhu Shankar said: "I told you earlier, I was looking for the cup… We feel on top of the world. Consistent team performance throughout was our winning formula."
Associates Shamik Narayan and Raj Kamal opened for the Titus & Co team, with Kamal scoring 50 runs after hitting 70 in the semis.
Titus associate and third batsmen Praveen Nagar entered the crease in the 12th over and batted the final ball to finish the match.
"I went in at the 12th over to play with Ishant Verma, then our slump started," he said. "Otherwise we were at a very comfortable position, we were going by an average of 10… But the Saikrishnas came back, bowling and one of their spinners was very good."
"We bowled first, they won the toss and scored 167 and our [senior associate] bowler Rayner Vishal Dass bowled very well. We kept our cool and remained under control, despite the fact that we needed 25 runs in 18 balls in the last three overs."
Nagar told Legally India that it was a particularly nerve wracking experience to have to score seven balls in the last over in order to win.
Titus opening batsman Kamal was also named the man of the match with his score of 60 runs.
Titus & Co managing partner Diljeet Titus said: "We had played until the semi-finals last year, so each player was passionate about winning this time."
Last year's finalists Dua Associates and Luthra & Luthra had unexpectedly crashed out in the quarter finals this year.
Titus' Saurabh Anand was awarded the match of the series award and Saikrishna all-rounder and star batsmen Dilpreet Singh was awarded the best batsmen of the tournament award.
Titus senior associate and bowler Rayner Vishal Dass was declared best bowler of the series.

Next year, we might see Kumar Sangakkara play as Business Deveolpment Officer of Titus..WAY TO GO TITUS for setting the best trend.
[...]
hey SACHIN say Hi to your friend from KTS.You didnt talk about him.
Hey I missed out Saurabh who is your Business Development Officer.
[...]
HEY SACHIN, TELL US THAT NO ONE FROM KTS PLAYED.
WHO FIGHTS AGAINST PEOPLE LIKE YOU.
Who ever Titus & Co. hires & plays are men of actions who wins matches for them & do the needfull.. people like you, i wish i could ask someone to give you guys some constructive work..!!
Anyways, what History will always remember is that Titus & Co. are official Champions.. Kamal, in who you are really interested, i could ask a meet with him and he could show you all necessary documents for your ultimate satisfaction.... by the way, by comparing him with Sangakara, u must have gotten him a lot of pride... i thanku on his behalf...
n yes, better luck next time...
And.. What has been done is History!! Titus is the Turf Twenty20- 2009-10 WINNERS!! Lets face the fact... and stop cribbing!!
But players from Titus were a bunch of hooligans passing the most derogating personal remarks possible. Anyways, no one is snatching your trophy so enjoy your victory and ya make our own team play next time. KTS thing is true and all the firms know it. So shut up:-):-)
There re cases of ppl killing themselves also,pl dnt take that step...and im very happy for titus as they came from a stage where they were down and out with the same team these ppl had a problem with...pl look into the mirror and say we lost...it will meke a man outta u..regards
"This is what i promote..Stainless steel art.
We work with upcoming and renowned artists and promote stainless steel as a medium of art."
The above is on Saurabh Anand's facebook page. I have never met a lawyer like him. I am sure he must be one of the highly sought after lawyers
And RAJ Kamal is into litigating working with KTS.
Now you can blabber and produce shitty documents. Unprecedented action on the part of a law firm. Guyz lets end this so that our fraternity is at the risk of embarassment because of the dodgy act of few. Good bye
While many congratulations are in order for the victory, many more congratulations are in order for the sheer creativity that has been demonstrated in getting outsiders to play. It seems certain that the concept of a 'business development officer' will redefine the Indian legal landscape and also the way cricket is played amongst law firms.
The larger issue that everyone who plays law firm cricket must address as soon as possible, is how we propose to deal with this menace in the upcoming SILF tournament? It sends shivers down my spine to think of the number of 'business development officers' (once again, thats just awesome) and secondees that the larger law firms can bring within their fold! Would it help if Titus and Co. was simply excluded from all future tournaments?
BECAUSE THIS WAS THE SAME TEAM WHO WAS DOWN AND OUT IN THE INITIAL STAGES!!
keep it up titus
