Economic Laws Practice (ELP) has hired Ravinder Narain & Co consultant Sonu Bhatnagar as a partner to head its Delhi indirect tax litigation team on 7 November, according to a press release from the firm.
Bhatnagar graduated as a lawyer from Delhi University in 1993 and did a diploma in environmental law the same year after which she joined erstwhile law firm Dadachanji & Co, closely working with advocate Ravinder Narain in the firm until it dissolved in 2002. She then joined Ravinder Narain & Co as a consultant until 2012, also taking up independent matters.
“There’s a lot of tax litigation [being handled by the firm] so right now the plan is just to take stock of it and consolidate the existing practice,” she said, adding that while indirect tax is her core area she has handled my constitutional matters.
She said that she has had dealings with ELP managing partner Rohan Shah and Mumbai partner Vikram Nankani for several years, working on the same tax matters.
At ELP Delhi Bhatnagar will head a team of six lawyers. ELP has been rebuilding its litigation practice since June, post the great April poach of its litigation head Tarun Gulati along with his team of 12 lawyers by PDS Legal.
