Luthra partner Rajesh Chavda returns to (alternative) IDFC fold with new GC

Rajesh Chavda joins IDFC Alternatives legal team of six

Former Luthra & Luthra partner Rajesh Chavda, who as we had reported on 2 November had left the firm, has now joined IDFC Alternatives as director legal and compliance.

Chavda had begun his career at IDFC after graduating from NLSIU Bangalore in 2000. In 2004 he moved to Reliance after an LLM at Columbia Law School, followed by Herbert Smith London in 2007.

In 2015 he had returned to India to join Luthra as a partner.

Chavda was not available for comment.

At IDFC Alternatives’ legal team of around six, Chavda is reporting to general counsel Vinod Joseph (who is also an NLSIU Bangalore alum but from 1998, when he had begun his career at AZB & Partners).

Joseph had joined the IDFC investment fund in October 2016 from Bennett Coleman’s investment arm, Brand Capital, to replace former GC Shagoofa Khan, who had joined Cyril Amarchand in May 2016.

We first reported the news of Chavda joining IDFC Alternatives several months ago in our exclusive subscriber only newsletter. Please sign up below to support us and to get the scoops first.
