Yes, he has. He had a permanent job at SAU with retirement benefits etc. He had never resigned from it, but had taken lien to go to JGLS, wherein nobody has got a permanent job as such, only contractual at the discretion of the authorities. After his lien ended, SAU didn't choose to extend it any further. So he had to choose between going back or giving up the permanent post and associated perks altogether. He chose the former.
he is going to become prof at SAU in 2024, he has the required years now, he is most likely going to then add his jgls + sau prof year to get to 10 yrs in 2027 to become vc
It doesn't work like that. He's been at JGLS as a professor for 3 years only, probably not even that. He needs a total of 10 years as professor or equivalent to apply for VC ship.
JGLS professor designation is useless anywhere else. They would make anyone professor even if the person has little experience or publications. Not that Prabhash wasn't fully qualified and more. However, JGLS ranks aren't taken seriously outside JGLS.
He made a mistake. The money at JGLS is more and he could have become a VC elsewhere had he stuck around.
no he hasnt.

Prabhash is a serious academic and he knows very well that reputation matters more than money. Jindal is only a propped up place which is what it is because it strategised to break the rankings. Consequentially, professorships are not of any consequence or value. An excellent academic like Prabhash and dimwits who do not even have a Ph.D or a single piece of good scholarship are both Professors. Have no doubts, serious academics consider Jindal to be a place to go to make money and nothing more than that.

Prabhash has a long career ahead of him and he will achieve much more as a scholar. The loss is only Jindal's.
Has anyone become a VC from JGLS yet? In addition, don't underestimate the SAU perks, the salary is tax-free.
He's never been a professor and has been made director of a private law school which does not need to follow UGC norms anyway. Moreover, he does not even have an LLB degree either. Has got a BA, an MSc, an LLM and a PhD.
Ashish is not VC of BITS. He's just the Dean of its law school. Many people have gone to become Deans at different places (almost all of them shady law schools).

Only YSR Murthy has gone to become the VC of RV University in Bangalore
Salary at SAU is top-notch, paid in US dollar terms and completely tax-free, I doubt Prabhash is suffering at SAU financially. SAU pays as good if not better than JGLS.
That's quite accurate. JGLS ranks don't mean anything outside of the institution, and is a joke. Take for instance APK (who's amazing in tax no doubt). She was Assoc. Prof in JGLS but joined NLS as Asst. Prof.

Anyways, JGLS's loss is NLS's gain.
You guys are under a notion that Jindal Associate Profs are making more than UGC pay scale. There are Jindal Associate Profs and Full Professors who earn less than UGC pay scale!!! Some Associates got a ₹ 5000 pm hike after their promotion!!!
See Prabhash has always been very pragmatic about anything that he does and just like the actor, he too has been chasing excellence with lots of success. So as someone rightly pointed out, Prabhash, being the pragmatic man that he is, has chosen excellence. No offense to JGLS which houses some of the best and brightest legal minds that India can offer.
