But about the IDIA essay competition, they are absolutely right. There was NO result announcement this year. There was a lot of fuss about it as well, since we couldn't track anybody who ended up claiming being the winner (people in the past have always posted about it). The OB's response to all these issues through the mail was really disappointing and definitely concerning. I would've posted the mail here too if that were an option.
Also, as far as I remember, the deadline to submit the essay was in mid-August, which is when I submitted my entry. So I’m not sure where this idea is coming from that the results were supposed to be announced in July, before the submission window even closed. And just to clarify, I didn’t pay any registration fee for my entry either.
The IDIA ICUL NLUJ competition earlier this year had its result announced multiple weeks later. What is even more insane were the results, which NEVER CAME OUT. Multiple concerns were raised, but the OC simply refused from offering any justification and disappeared with the money.
Then came the Pranita Mehta Essay Comp. The results were supposed to be announced in July, more than 4 months ago. Again, there has been no update on it whatsover. Complete silence.
They should definitely come out with a justification for all this, especially when they have been charging money for registrations. Paying 500 bucks and working on a 3000 word well-researched essay only for the OC to disappear is so wrong to all the participants. Or maybe just stop with all the competitions altogether and refund everyone's money.
