1. Not all NALSARites get decent jobs. The bottom 30% of the last few batches has ended up at a mix of random organisations (as inhouse counsels), litigation chambers, and lesser known law firms — often with disappointingly below average pay. These batch sizes have been mindlessly been increased (the first 150+ batch is yet to get placed this year, leading to various anxieties among these groups), and both salaries & vacancies at well-paying (T1/T2) firms have almost not been increasing for nearly a decade now — making the situation likely to get way worse. So, are you sure you want to put 60 lacs in the drain when there's a good possibility you'd not get much monetary return out of it?
2. There's a good amount of similarity in the kinds of questions asked in major entrances for law and economics. And frankly, they're some of the easiest entrances in the country (For example, CLAT hasn't had more than 60k applicants for almost the past decade, as opposed to the ever increasing intense competition in medical, engineering, or management exams). Most importantly, at present, they're heavily tailored to be far easier for anyone with a solid background in English education. So the harsh truth is that with your privilege, you'd anyway be further ahead of most of the applicants coming from semi-urban & lesser privileged backgrounds. Why not wait a year and give these entrances a proper shot? What's the worst that could happen? You'll most likely still have this FN option next year. Indian law firms barely look at your CV, noone will likely even bring up a drop year anywhere. But, if you utilise this opportunity and get a decent rank, you get to save a ton of your parents' money & use it when you actually need it in the future.
