Apart from that, in terms of competition, it is less compared to other states since only around 2-3k people write the exam every year and they mostly they conduct it every year. However in 2024 the vacancies were very less, only 7 seats. But this is not the general case, usually 20-30 vacancies are there minimum every year, if you prepare well, its not a difficult exam to crack.
For preparation its is very state specific, bare acts + case laws would be sufficient. However, most people who clear take coaching locally, based in Trivandrum and Kochi. Its optional based on your level of legal knowledge. Hope this helps.
