Horrible advice. This is the problem with people without the tag, you think it’s some knowledge competition with NLU kids. And you think success on some social media platform will compensate for you and make you a great lawyer. Make reels, seriously? And all you people want is status and power despite the limited ability. No higher goals in your life. This is the real problem with this country and its innumerable mediocre youth.

Hi, I can relate to this so much as someone suffering from mediocrity. This is how I cope. Everything has a price. I just chose to not pay the price for success. But I also had a carefree teenage and early adulthood. I have 9 hours of sleep. Being stressed about not being successful is like paying the price and forgetting to collect your goods. Anyway, you still can be impactful in ways the 'successful people' can't simply because they choose not to.

Bhai dekh. Pehle toh authority aur tag tag ki chinta chhod. Kuch nahi hoga. With this mindset literally I am telling you, you cannot start a tech company in India.

You know what I realized seeing the IITians and their companies? Most of their companies are shit and have 0 tech. Yes. 0 tech. Web development and creating a website like meesho is not tech. Any tom, D and harry can use no code tools to build such things. I will bet my life that any good enough Bengaluru private college CS grad can build those things. Tech means Neural networks. GPT level. Yeh bakchodi nahi jo tech ke naam yeh log karte hai.

Look at Amber, Powerplay. Is it tech? It is shit. Any final year or 1y experience android developer from a Tier 5 AP college can build it. Then why are they successful?

Because they try. And not give up. Yes. They try. They try the stupidest of ideas while my smart friends continue with their mediocre jobs or try doing MBA. I am sure some people are catching this idea - as it is evident with the success of Astrotalk.

So, the point, the alleged - "capable people" are not exactly that capable. And you anyway, you have no other option than to compete. Now the question is how to compete? And is there any example? Google J Sai Deepak. He is a Mechanical Engineer from Anna Univ. Pretty sure no one can counter him on his strong areas and he'll get a RS seat soon. Where did the unlimited talent NLU kids go?

So, what can you do now?

1. Use Instagram and put out reels. In Hindi. See legal.lucknow handle. Authority figure is someone who the janta thinks is an authority. Whether NLS profs think you are authority or not is irrelevant.

So, put out reels explaining law, explaining the nuances and boost it.

2. Similarly, write on LinkedIn. Now 100 paragraph gyan documents. 3 para edits on the new updates or explaining complex topics.

3. My english is okay. I went an international competition. All elite college students came. A friend told me, mug up your facts and be thorough with your research. Yudh angrezi ka nahi, gyan ka hai.

I countered the shit out of those Dhirubhai Ambani SoBo kids with my tuta phuta english for 2 days.

So, make sure your research is top-notch. Use chatGPT 4. (Download Microsoft bing, now use copilot ) and ask questions like it was an assistant.

4. Pick up fights with the best in business. It is funny, you know. People want Govt to listen to them, and Bibek Debroy posts every day on LinkedIn and he get 2 likes and random influencers get 100 likes for their "25 learnings under 25). Go and comment below Ashwath Rau LinkedIn post or AMS's tweet or posts with facts and references. People will be forced, yes forced, to listen to you.

Finally, lado. Ratta aur gyan ready rakho aur nazro me aao. Phir dekho kamaal.

Well I'm 23, And I can relate to your story. Coming from a complete outside background - non-nlu, first generation, no connections and money too. Wasted 2 years in Covid and started my journey in final year. Worked my ass off, planned and connected like crazy- have more than 6000 connections on linkind and my every post gets more than 200 likes even today. Towards the end of my college , I though I would make into a good firm, however, di not. Nevertheless, got into an award-wining boutique firm and started my law career. Was the first one my peer group to get a job . Worked for a while and was getting interview calls from tier firms even before completing my first year. Though i was riding high. I was ahead of my peers, even my seniors and super seniors. I though i'll make ahead. Was doing good in the firm, represented clients against people like Indian Railways, Priti Suri Associates, Bharucha, Delhi Transport Corporation, International Banks etc. Got 1700 rank in Clat PG- highest in my college. Cleared various entrances like NALSAR LLM in IBC, SLAT PG, LSAT etc. I had it all. .... Then came the down fall, I got egotist. I though I deserved more. Thought I was ahead of my peers, my colleagues, of anyone. A family screw up made me leave my job and sat at home for a month. Felt devastated, felt like crap. I was inches away from clinching a top-tier job, and now was sitting at the bottom. Started applying again, but no avail, no jobs at all. Now being offered jobs at pays even lower than my first job with attitude of people at their worst. Imagine the downfall, in just a matter of 6 months. Being looked down by everyone, most of all myself. Now I have come to terms with reality, our ego is in our head, We are not as great as we think, just when we step out our bubble. The world is large and we are just tiny specks of our imagination. People have privileges and they can use them whenever they want to. Now I am seeing people way below my aptitude climbing ahead me, three of my friends got good jobs and they thanked me for guidance in some capacity

The bottomline is , We have to live with our lives, our strengths and weaknesses, perfections and imperfections, goods and evils, and we can never fully come to terms with the success of others. No. So don't pity you, enjoy you, enjoy who are you, being you, what are you.Bloom where you are planted, coz u don't know what worth you will have somewhere else.

If this makes you feel better, I should tell you that being an NLU grad I think I have not been prepared to face the reality of the legal profession. NLUs keep you so academically involved that you hardly get time to learn the nitty-gritties which goes into litigation and corporate jobs both. Where on one hand, your interaction with clients is something that you learn on ground in corporate, in litigation management of the case with basics such as drafting of replies/petitions again is not easily learned. And those shitty one-two internships don't help. It is the stupidest idea I think. Sure, keep internships of 1-2 months for the initial 3 years of law school. But in senior stage, internships will only contribute meaningfully if they are for 3-4 months at least.

When we NLU grads enter the market, we are laughed upon by Traditional College grads for basics like not knowing the process of filing and drafting. And very rightly so. NLUs (Tier-1) are only good if you want to study law due to academic interests.

You are one of the very luckiest person to have done law from non-NLU place and survive the demanding turf of litigation. For most NLU grads, then can't make it to litigation and go beyond their 30s with the mark of practicing advocates. Cheers to you mate.

I graduated from a non-NLU, later on went for my LLM in a NLU, NLS to be exact. I was always very ambitious, yet I didn't know anything about law and therefore didn't give the CLAT in my UG, later on when I found out about CLAT I gave myself an excuse that great people can come from anywhere. However once I joined NLS I found out how much opportunities, resources and guidance I missed in my 5 years studying in a private college. I joined NLS LLM happy that I secured a top position, yet I graduated depressed that I missed and was devoid of opportunities in my 5 years of my college life. I am currently practicing law. However during my one year in NLS I found that there were people , legends, authorities, scholars, much above than my own capabilities. That's when I finally realised I'm medicore.. average.. my self esteem shattered. I saw people who did their grad in NLS and PG abroad, phd aboard, internships at great places , jobs at international law firms. I felt gutted. I am in my 30s. I am doing the best in my litigation. But somewhere I feel I will always lead a medicore life forever. I will never be able to compete with people who did their LLB from NLS and PG/PhD/work experience from university/ work exp abroad. I will always be a random lawyer from a third world country that will never be an authority in his legal life. Being ambitious I am leading a medicore life. In short I'm struggling in life. How do I accept that I am medicore and there's nothing wrong with being average ? How do I limit my over ambitious goals. How do I enjoy my life without feeling this mental pressure. Please provide geniune replies. I need help. 🙏🏽
