If you don't surrender the license, then nothing will happen, but you should not attempt to appear in court or sign a legal opinion as an advocate. If you do and someone complains against you, then you will be in problem. Otherwise, you can just let it be. The BCI or the state bar council doesn't do any checking on their own.
