Sir ever single company with Paid Up capital of 10cr or more are mandatorily required to appoint a whole time CS , be it a private co. a public co. or a Listed co. (Read Rule 8a companies act, 2013 )and which takes the total no. to somewhere around 2-3 lakhs , and CS's are not only appointed because of this statutory obligation they are appointed because they have the required skill sets and around 60-70 % of these companies appoint more than 1 CS.
Company Secretaries are paid less is Private companies that appoint CS's only as a statutory obligation (i.e Freshers 40k-50k approx ) in tier 2 ,3 cities.
But if you look at the salary of fresher company secretary in tier 1 cities it shoots up to 7-9 LPA for a decent private company , and around 12-15LPA ( I myself got placed for 13.6LPA (gross) ) for a public or listed entity , also top law firms law firm like TRILEGAL , CAM, L&L etc they all are located at tier 1 cities and their offer freshers somewhere around 15-16 LPA .
and when it comes to growth and work life balance I make approx 3.5x of what I was earning initially , and I don't need to work for 60-70 hours a week and I sit with BOD of the company and living the best days of my life .
so please don't spread negativity and respect every profession.

Less than 5% of total required full time CS and only listed big companies hire more than 1 CS.
So, merely there are 70-80K CS are required in total.
So The Demand Is Huge .
