LLM from a decent UK college (outside London) will cost you around 20 lakhs (including accommodation but with a basic university scholarship that any foreign student with decent CV and grades can score with prep). If you do it from a place within London, it would go up to 25-28 lakhs. I am assuming that you are going there to study and not splurge. Comparatively, an USA JD will cost you a minimum of 55-60 lakhs (very conservative estimate, it usually costs more and scholarships are not frequently given either). The living cost is somewhat lesser though, depending on the state. Singapore LLM will cost you around 25, especially since they no longer have most scholarships offered earlier to Indian students and Singapore is a very expensive place. Not sure about Australia.

I have travelled multiple times to all the 4 countries you have listed, studied in one of them and lived in another. Both the academic and non-academic experiences these countries will offer you are worth it! In terms of a country-by-country analysis of costs, below is an estimate for someone who wants to live in comfort and have a nice social life (pubs, concerts, shows and weekend trips to holiday destinations)

1. US: most expensive but also offers the most opportunity, if you can crack the market. If you want to save costs, one option is the Jindal LLB-JD programme with various law schools (Cornell being the most prestigious) as you save a year.

Overall budget: Rs 1.3 to 1.6 crore.

2. UK: Second-most expensive and less expensive than the US. But if you study in Oxford, Cambridge or London and want to have a good social life prepare to spend a bomb in living costs.

Overall budget: Around Rs 65-70 lakhs

3. Australia: Third-most expensive. The Aus dollar has also plummeted since China started a trade war with them, after Scott Morrison's government publicly demanded to know how Covid originated. But while the costs of an LLM have gone down, Australia can still be an expensive place to live in.

Overall budget: Around Rs 50-55 lakhs

4. Singapore: Just a little less expensive than Australia. In terms of living costs, but fewer temptations than places like London or NY.

Could you cut costs if you cut down on your social life and live in simple accommodation? Yes, but that sucks.
