I think the seniors on the matter should set realistic expectations for both clients and juniors. Diwali is a big deal in India and there should be no shame in saying you aren't working on diwali. If it's foreign clients - tell them it's as important as Christmas /Chinese New year or whatever else is as important. If it's Indian clients most should understand - except the ones who are doing the work once in their lifetime types (sign / close a deal during Diwali) - tell them you have already lost a few diwalis for work and it's not once in a lifetime for you. Push back otherwise they will keep assuming you will do their work no matter what. If there is more work than you can handle - pick the ones that suit you.
