India emerging a 'Vishvaguru', says Ramesh Pokhriyal after 3 Indian institutes figure in top 200 QS World University Rankings
WHAT A CLOWN our education minister is!!! This is what he tweeted today!! Only 3 in top 200 (none in the top 100) versus a much better performance from other Asian countries like China, Japan, Singapore and Korea! And he says India is a Vishvaguru!!! This is the deluded world we Indians inhabit. We call NLSIU as the Harvard of the East based on such misplaced arrogance.
Meanwhile, JGLS is ranked #15 of all universities in India overall, trailing 8 IITs, IISC, JNU, Jadavpur, DU, Hyderabad University etc. One should expect NLSIU to at least rank somewhere.
While the rankings are true to some extent, I won't take it too seriously because there is also an element of perception involved too (employer and student reputation), . Also proportion of international students and faculty is taken into account. If we overlook these parameters, I am sure a lot of are universities will end up at higher ranks. THE rankings tried doing the same and ended up being boycotted by a lot of reputed universities.
