There were other options. Had you been aware of crypto trading and how it worked together with other wallets, both national and international like Paypal, then it might have made better sense to you. You can join any of the several Indian crypto communities if you really want to know of the available options. The RBI ban was largely ineffective insofar as people who knew what they were doing were concerned.

There are many platforms for trading. I personally use CoinDCX, because it does not impose any fee on deposit/withdrawal. As Kian said, do not invest anything that you won't be okay with losing. Do not try to hold on to your investment for long unless you have got strong nerves, because of the occasional crash and strong fluctuations. If you want to do daily trading and earn in that way, you would have to be able to devote the necessary time for close monitoring. I myself have averaged a profit of 1000 rupees per day from trading over the last two years by investing an original amount of 10000. After about a month, I withdrew the original 10000, and thereafter took greater risks. However, there is no one-size-fits-all strategy. The current crash has not caused too much loss for me, and if you study the movements of many other currencies apart from the usual BC, Ethereum etc., and then spread your trading accordingly, then you can stay ahead of the market for the most part. I did have to spend an hour and a half daily to be able to do whatever I said.
