@Koolkat- Wow! Thanks a lot, means a great deal. Take it you're not a moot fan!
nandiireywal, don't take this to heart. i enjoy your posts like anything also.
@7,8,9 - Thanks guys, glad you like.
Having said that, I would like to add another perspective (in case some law student reads this and gets completely disillusioned):
- A good mooter can beat his opponent who may have a bench memo thanks to "contacts"
- Some good moots have great judges and great opponents .... and the process is very learning. Even if a moot happens to be compromised and leads to disappointment, you will gain from the experience.
- Teaches you team work too.
- Moots may be over-hyped, but they do make your CV “cool” … even if you happen to be the “Best Oralist” :P … or you may prefer “Best Speaker” if one of the meanings of “oralist” doesn’t appeal to you.
On a lighter note – mooters do shave !!!
An obvious mooter
Am sure my intelligent readers will be discerning enough to distinguish between fact and fiction and really hope they will not shy away from testing their mooting skills! All your points are admitted except I'm not sure what you mean by beating your opponent by contacts? Most moots are pretty transparent- its only natural that one team will feel hard done given that moots are judged subjectively.

Well, maybe not quite the same line of argument as mine....but interesting and worth a read.
