[UPDATE] NLU Assam may lose VC Vijender Kumar who is mulling NLU Nagpure VC-ship offer

NLU Assam vice chancellor Dr Vijender Kumar may join NLU Nagpur as its first vice chancellor (VC), reported the hitavada.

If Kumar joins the Maharashtra NLU he will leave NLU Assam, mid-term of his VC-ship, in the middle of an administrative fiasco where students are boycotting classes en masse to press their demand for college fees refund to make up for deficient law school facilities provided to them since the very beginning of NLU Assam.

He did not respond to calls and messages seeking comment. Update at 1:49PM: Kumar told Legally India that he "has to think about [NLU Nagpur's] offer", but was not available for further comment at the time of going to press.

The former Nalsar Hyderabad registrar Kumar had taken over NLU Assam’s VC-ship in October 2014 while it was going through a similar administrative fiasco involving hunger striking students, as then reported by India.

In the next few months he had, however, attempted to salvage the situation.

NLU Nagpur was created by ordinance by the Maharasthra government, as the state’s second NLU after NLU Mumbai.

It has not yet joined the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
