Most stenographers do not know how to format well actually. For example, many won't use page-breaks and would hit enter a million times to get to the next page. What happens when you add a paragraph later? Formatting nightmares.
Is anyone interested in classes on formatting? I am the absolute BEST, and if there's enough folks interested, and willing to pay (top dollar of course), I will be happy to teach on a weekend. I know that all my former colleagues beseeched me to teach and offered to pay to learn.
Practice. Fix one badly formatted document a day. It's the only way. When you see a problem. Be lazy. Don't try and find a hack around it. Look up how to fix it and then do that same thing multiple times to commit it to muscle memory. Will take about a week but you'll be great at it.
