FACTS

1. Gave verbal intimation Jan 05, and sent official email to resign on Jan 09. Received one liner email that my last day is Feb 15.

2. Got Covid so couldn't go to office from Feb 12 to Feb 15, but requested WFH (shared report as well). Never received response on that. But kept working, attended meetings.

3. Have submitted my laptop to firm.

4. Still recieved notice saying submit laptop and pay money for rest of the notice period (which is for the entirety of 90 days, but this was never mentioned before that my notice period is not waived off)

Issue: Future employment- what will be issues when i apply to next job? Do law firms care for such things and will they check so in background check?
None whatsoever. Seems like your old firm isn't a decent one anyway.

On a side note - send enough emails to them to prove what you said and then disclose it on a public forum. Most of these firms are bullies who think nothing will happen and they'll save a few bucks.
