Who are these faculty? How is this still possible, in this day and age of 'UGC norm adherence'? Will NLS be next, since several of the good youngsters whom Sudhir has hired lack UGC qualification like NET or PhD (like RY for instance)?
Hopefully this WP will be a success unless things get timed out as is wont when things go to court. But this can trigger some/many of the alleged ineligible recruits to jump off the gravy train.
From Noojie experience, do not be surprised if papers go missing/lost or even created with back dates et al.
I hope some Noojie goes to Cal HC and through inquiry is conducted and the clean up is done in full earnest. No just recruitment but so many other rotten things have been covered up by successive VCs and their acolytes.
For people wondering what it's about, they've hired 2 people as professors doing integrated LLM-PhD program. Why the appointment has been challenged is what I couldn't find on the writ petition.
Do you mean professors or assistant professors? How can folks doing integrated LLM-PhD qualify as professors? Previously in NUJS, candidates pursuing PhD (barely in the first lap) were recruited as assistant professors. Some were given contractual positions and then "made" permanent or "eased" into permanent positions later.
Candidates pursuing PhD are fully qualified to become assistant professors provided they have cleared UGC NET. However, occasionally NLU VCs like MP Singh and Ranvir Singh and now Sudhir have been known to relax that requirement if they get a good young promising candidate.
These people were pursuing their integrated LLM and PHD. The current VC awarded them full assistant professor contracts when 'coaxed' by the Great Banyan Tree. These people do not have NET, and since it was an integrated program, technically, until they finish their PhD, they cannot have the LLM degree as well. However, I have heard that they are good teachers.
Recently they have given a full professor of Human Rights contract to someone who does not have a masters. Apparently the current VC and this fellow had previous political links.
I think it would be because the integrated programme doesn't give LLM marksheets separately after a year that would prove one's masters marks percentage, as well as allow one to give UGC NET.

After NKC took over, SJA imploded and the advantages gained were lost. Hopefully the current SJA will start the difficult journey of getting out of the morass.
