Most of us were probably not born, or were under 5 years old, when the UPA came to power in 2004. This paper explains that they inherited a healthy economy from the Vajpayee BJP govt but ruined it with corruption and anti-liberalisation (note that the Communist parties/Lalu/DMK were a major part of UPA 1 and the TMC/Lalu/DMK in UPA 2).
So this paper is important reading for all students and those in first year should definitely raise it in Economics class with their professors.
This is a completely one sided piece meant for gaining political mileage before elections than a serious economics discussion. No wonder people have stopped relying on the data that get released during this government's tenure, everything is politically coloured, the weaknesses and flaws of the current regime are hidden to the extent of coming up with new standards of measure, and the terrible outcome of that is this government that was capable of ushering in long term and viable economic reforms in the country has just refused to do it, because it refuses to accept its own problems and would rather rely upon sycophants than constructive criticism.
So this paper is important reading for all students and those in first year should definitely raise it in Economics class with their professors.
