Been at least 2 years since their split. Not sure whether their practice was actually that big. They did do well no doubt.
Their separation was on account of the intrinsic differences between Shyel Kapur and Dia Trehan. Shyel Kapur wanted to expand to the South and start with an office in Mumbai. Dia Trehan however thought that it was better to look at the global south and open an office in Singapore instead given the scope of arbitration.
They ultimately decided that it was best to have two offices - one in Sundar Nagar and the other in DefCol.
Also heard rumours about a cash crunch. Maybe that explains why Ms. Kapur opened an office in Sundar Nagar instead of Mumbai / Singapore.
