The sports committee of GNLU has observed an increasing amount of involvement by the faculties of the committee, with them being the decision bearers of tiniest of the things like who will play on the grounds to the big things like who will head the committee. The committee had turned into a joke when 7 convenors were appointed , some of whom who hadn’t even applied for the post. It’s funny how a bunch of 30 year olds are harassing , threatening and bullying students who are almost 10 years younger than them just because things aren’t going according to their will. It is known in all NLUs that the committees are of the student, by the students and for the students. The faculties are overly involved in smallest of decisions and continue to openly bully the students in public and shut them up due to the fear of the court case that has been lodged suo moto by the high court of Gujarat. They’d rather listen to people who don’t even play sports as they just want to save themselves and act all righteous, not taking into consideration what all sportspersons they are harming in the process of doing so. They’re even afraid of things being posted to legallyindia, scared that their reality and hypocrisy will be out in public. There is a dire need for the faculty involvement to be lessened and the student democracy to return in order to ensure that the sports committee is functioning to its full potential.
Both the faculty members of the sports committee need to reflect over their actions over the past month. This needs intervention from higher authorities and they need to be removed ASAP from their positions.
Faculties here don't know how to take a stand. They had a grudge against ex convenor of the sports comm whom they publically humiliated in front of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and LLM. Just to show their dominance as a faculty. Grow up faculty members. I am assuming you must be having more important work than being cool infront of students.
GNLU is a laughing stock at this point, I have not seen any NLU with this much faculty involvement. Be it selecting the core committee or even a minor event like Futsal, both the faculty members act like it’s their committee rather than the students. They need to understand that in the end it’s a student run committee not a faculty run one. If things continue like this, Sports culture of GNLU won’t survive in the long run.
They won’t. They have too much ego and attitude and think that this is their playground to play on. Watch them make the students more miserable due to this post now.
No elections no democratic process, the entire committee works like a dictatorship. 2 people who think they’re above everything calling the shots in the garb of righteousness. The convenors are merely puppets in their hands and they are there for name sake without any power in their hands. It’s better the admin dissolves the committee and makes sure the faculty members are relieved from their duties.
What is the administration doing over here? Why aren’t they taking any action against such things going around?! When will the administration wake up!! It’s frustrating to see even the faculties are doing such activities over personal grudges and vendettas
Tired of the people from this university. It seems every week these gnlu people find something to whine about. Can't solve anything internally, want to make a drama out of everything.. I did witness the faculties being rude and shouting at students today, throwing sentences like “who are they to talk to us” and all, getting all aggressive over a small matter and taking it out of hands in front of a huge crowd
The Sports committee of GNLU has officially become a joke at this point. The faculty members just do whatever they deem fit without even consulting the students. Even the recent core committee formation was somewhat of a joke only. People who didn't even apply for anything are a part of the core committee now. The faculty in an open general body meeting declared number of members and then went ahead and contradicted themselves Just e-mailing the list without any democratic process. There was no election whatsoever. The Convener of the Sports Committee doesn't even play any sport. It's an absolute disgrace to see 30-35 year old faculty members trying to bully students to give in to their demands.
These so called faculty members talk about morals and ideals when they themselves have questionable morals and lack the basic understanding of what’s right and what’s wrong. These faculty members overpower the faculty convenor just because these guys can speak fluent English and the faculty convenor might not be that comfortable. This faculty member expects the boys to do all the physical labour and girls to ONLY do communications and decor work and then they go on and talk about there should be equal opportunity for girls and boys in the committee. This faculty member keeps threatening to resign from the committee every now and then. Please do. We’ll be better off without you.

The said faculties cancelled our Futsal over stupid reasons and made a scene over a made up issue. “Why aren’t the girls involved?” Bruh it was open. Just let the girls register and they can be involved themselves. They expect us to spoonfeed everything to the girls just because someone complained…Running a shitshow out here
What happened is very, very sad and shameful. Is there anything at GNLU that is not affected by politics and cancel culture? We are the laughing stock of all NLUs. What next? Different hostels for conservatives and liberals?
I see a lot of patriarchy and misogyny being normalised on this thread. Understand that there is something called a structural barrier, which prevents girls from participating.
You guys are law students! Figure out GNLU rules / Sports Comm rules, and related procedures, and fight out their decisions. Stop acting like cry babies whose candies were taken away.
