I am an SA2 in a Tier 1 doing M&A/GC/PE, slaving away days and nights. But I have not been able to land an interview at any PE/VC fund. Even funds whose average ticket size is INR 5-10 Crore. Anyone has experience in navigating these roadblocks?
M&A-PE-VC is kind of too broad; if you had prior Banking/AM&F experience then transitioning into family offices and managing their financing aspect is something one can look forward to. But all of this is a very private clienty practice where the board of such FOs are too dumb to understand and have a say on anything. A simple linkedin search can help you get in touch with people who can be of better help though, best of luck!
These positions are coveted and many lawyers apply for them. So, you need to be lucky when you apply and it takes time for an oppurtunity to arise which you are able to capitalise on. It also helps to have a good looking resume.

When you get the interview, and if the business guys are taking your interview, then you should be able to speak about the business of the target entities half decently. It shows that you are a "business" lawyer (whatever that means) and if you are going from an in-house position, then you should know the broad financial numbers of your company, such as total revenue and EBIDTA, if possible.
