2023 graduate here from T-1 NLU. Not at all interested in corp. so leaving a boutique Gen corp. firm. Thinking of joining litigation. Just confused as to where to begin. Because I find newbies generally running to Supreme Court.

But I guess once you manage to carve out a space, substantial money is there at trial level as well.

Guide please.
If you want to have a SC counsel practice - join a SC senior

If you want to learn court procedure as well - join an AoR with good work flow and then a SC senior - 2 years each.

In both cases - spend your time networking with lawyers who can refer you SC work 5 years down the line.

If you want to be HC lawyer - start in trial court. First appeals require knowledge of procedure, evidence etc which can only be learnt at trial courts.

If you are good with getting clients (people person) but may not be 'intellectual' enough for other lawyers to engage you then start and stay in Trial court. I can be a very good low stress gig if you crack it!
